It was a gorgeous morning in the Adirondacks and we set out early to hit the peaks. We weren't the only people out but there was only a few of us. This made for good timing, and we got to the peak before the crowd that can accumulate on this very popular High Peak. We first made our way to Cascade mountain, after arriving at the Cascade/Porter junction.

We stopped at the top for a while, like I said there was only a few other people at the top at this point. We had some fruit for a snack and really let ourselves enjoy the sun and the scenery. It was really an awesome sight to see the well known High Peaks sitting right in front of us.
After a while more people started showing up and we decided to head back down to the junction and over to Porter, since we knew much less people did both trails. Don't be fooled by how close Porter looks to Cascade, it isn't just a stroll over there. In fact there is quite a decent and then coming back up before reaching the top of Porter.. Here is a shot of Cascade from the top of Porter. If you look closely you can see a bunch of people specs at the top.
All in all, hitting both peaks wasn't bad of a day. It was a beautiful hike, like all of the Adirondacks are. We started out early and took our time. We made it off the trail with perfect time to grab a late lunch and a beer in town and then head home. :)
